Bids Due for £50m Swindon Retail and Cinema Job

Tenders are due in next month for the £50m scheme to build a cinema and supermarket complex on the site of an old technical college in Swindon. Client Ashfield Land hopes to start building work in October on a 52,000 sq ft Morrison’s store, eight restaurants, a 30,000 sq ft six-screen Cineworld cinema and a 450-space car park.

Demolition contractor Wring is midway through ripping down the 1950s high rise teaching blocks and should clear the site by the end of September. The Regent Circus project is understood to have attracted a competitive line up of bidders, including ISG, Kier, McLaren, Vinci and Wates.
