New Buildings Solutions & Cooper Lighting & Security Event
We think it is vitally important to attend local construction and building services events in order to; meet our clients, learn how we can help them to meet their objectives in their projects and keep up to date with the latest industry trends and developments. One of the best events we have attended lately was at the invitation of Cooper Lighting & Security, a leading manufacturer of energy saving lighting solutions, which held a Lighting Clinic at the New Building Solutions Event at the Lloyd’s Amphitheater and Architecture Centre in Bristol on the 31st May 2012.
The event, designed for specifiers, consultants, architects, end-users and commercial property owners, aimed to shine a light on safety, performance and energy efficiency in commercial buildings, with keynote speeches from Myles McCarthy, Managing Director of the Carbon Trust Implementation Scheme, Richard Hill, CIBSE South West Chairman and Chris Watts, Chairman of BSI committee for emergency lighting.
Reducing energy consumption and carbon footprint are concerns that have both political and commercial drivers for any business; the Climate Change Act of 2008 sets a legally binding target of at least an 80% cut in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Cooper Lighting and Safety is a Carbon Trust accredited supplier working to improve energy efficiency for businesses.
Martin Mullin, Managing Director of Cooper Lighting and Safety, commented. “With ever-increasing energy costs, saving energy is a priority for most companies and there are a number of ways for businesses to reduce consumption, however, many of them can be costly and time-consuming. One simple, quick and cost effective way is to replace existing inefficient lighting with the latest low energy luminaires. New advances in technology mean we can often replace fixtures with more efficient solutions, for example the old T8 fluorescent tubes can be replaced with the more energy efficient T5. Similarly, a 400W metal halide fixture can be replaced with a 120W LED.
We thought that the exhibition venue was very good indeed and that the Coopers Lighting Clinic offered a comprehensive display of exceptionally high end lighting products backed by a superbly knowledgeable team. After a very hot morning completing a roof survey for a large solar product, the refreshments served were also very welcome indeed! Many thanks to Jeremy Nash and the Cooper team for their great hospitality and insight into the latest high end energy efficient lighting solutions.
