BAM Construct has won the job to build a brain scanning hospital unit in Cardiff. The proposed new CUBRIC Phase 2 medical facility, containing MRI and specialist scanners, will be located at the Maindy Park Cardiff University campus close to the city centre.

The facility will comprise of 6,500 sq m state of the art scanning and brain imaging facilities, clinical and behavioural testing suites and accommodation and office space for researchers and students. The new building will be located adjacent to the recently completed Hadyn Ellis Building on the Maindy Park Innovation Campus and aims to promote a vibrant, interactive and productive neuroscience community.

The new facility follows BAM’s contract to build the £20m Hadyn Ellis medical research facility for stem cell research, completed last year. It is expected that work will begin shortly with completion expected by the end of 2015.
