21st-century-schoolsPlans to build a new English-medium primary school in the north of Cardiff are moving forward following a public consultation. Cardiff Council has agreed to the publication of a statutory notice to establish a new two-form entry school in Pontprennau, which will be developed on land adjacent to the community centre in Heol Pontprennau. The new school will cost around £6.6m to build, have a capacity of 420 places and accommodate pupils aged three to 11. It will include a nursery, which will provide 48 full-time equivalent places.

The school is being developed as part of the Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools programme, with funding from Cardiff Council. Planning permission has been approved but a start date has yet to be decided. The new school is expected to open in September 2015. Full details are available on the council’s website.
